Leicester to End Their Season on a High as Southampton’s Misery Continues
2874

Leicester City will be looking to secure eighth place in the Premier League on the final day of the season as they meet with Southampton at the King Power Stadium just a few days after racking up a decent point away to Chelsea.

It's been a topsy-turvy season for the Foxes, who despite being unable to make it into Europe for the third season running, can finish eighth to salvage a somewhat commendable feat given how close the European spots have been this season.

Leicester picked up a point in midweek too, as James Maddison scored yet another goal in the trip to Stamford Bridge, but a Marcos Alonso goal brought things level.

Maddison has now scored a goal in all three of his past three games to cap off another excellent individual campaign for him.

To get into eighth, Brendan Rodgers' men must hope they win and Wolves lose as they also boast a better goals difference.

As of now, there are just two points separating the two, and with Wolves heading to Anfield to meet with a Liverpool side in search of the title, it's fair to say eighth place could well be Leicester's.

The Foxes will also be aiming for win number 14 of the season as they have lost 14 too, while conceding the exact same amount of goals (58) as they have scored.

As for Southampton, it's been a terrible end to the season for them as they have now not registered a win since beating Arsenal in mid-April, with them even losing 6-0 to Chelsea just prior to that.

The Saints have gone on to lose to Burnley, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Liverpool, while racking up a draw with Brighton in between all that.

Ralph Hasenhüttl's men have comfortably survived for another season in the Premier League, but given how Everton only just secured Premier League safety this Thursday and are now just a point behind Southampton, it shows how poor they've been this season.

The club have also conceded the most goals from those outside of the relegation zone, with the south coast side letting in an alarming 63.

There seems to be no immediate attention on Hasenhüttl's job at Saint Mary's, but however, for the second season running under his leadership, their defensive record is the worst outside of the bottom three, while they can not finish higher than 15th and improve on their 43 points of last season.

With this in mind, Forebet predicts a win for Leicester and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
