Everton seeking vital points in PL relegation race
9361

Everton are just two points above 18th-place Burnley in the race for Premier League survival. The Toffees 3-2 loss to Brentford on Sunday have them needing a win in their penultimate game to be safe from relegation before the league’s final day.

Crystal Palace have had a strong season under first-year manager Patrick Vieira. The former Premier League winner has certainly improved the Eagles, although their results, at times, have been up and down.

The Eagles are 13th in the Premier League standings ahead of matchday 37. Each of Crystal Palace’s last four matches ended without a loss. They picked up a 1-1 away draw with Aston Villa last time out.

Despite Crystal Palace’s excellent form, Everton are undefeated in their last six home matches against the Eagles in all competitions. Everton have a head-to-head record of 2W-2D-2L versus Crystal Palace in the teams’ last six matches.

Everton were outscored in their last six games with Crystal Palace to the tune of 10-7. Crystal Palace picked up eight points from the last 18 points on offer. They scored just five times and conceded five goals.

Frank Lampard’s Toffees also picked up eight points from the last 18 available. They were outscored 7-6 in the last six matches in the division.

If Everton can get a point, they will potentially move three points clear of Burnley. The Clarets will clash with Aston Villa on Thursday night as well. Leeds United are also in the relegation mix.

The Whites are 17th in the division and one point back of Everton. Leeds United have just one game left to play while both Everton and Burnley have two.

Lampard has eight names on the injury list at Goodison Park. Nathan Patterson is ruled out with an ankle injury. Yerry Mina is ruled out once more and Fabian Delph will miss the game. Ben Godfrey is a doubt to make the squad as is Michael Keane.

Meanwhile, Andros Townsend and Salomon Rondon are both set to miss the fixture. Jarrad Branthwaite is suspended for the fixture. Donny van de Beek could return from injury and suffering a groin strain.

Vieira is unlikely to have James McArthur due to a calf issue. Michael Olise and Nathan Ferguson are both ruled out of the fixture.

Crystal Palace are on a two-match winning streak against Everton. Twice this season they have beaten Everton in league and cup games by a combined score of 7-1. However, Everton are unbeaten in six straight games at Goodison versus the Eagles.

Everton should get a 1-1 draw at full-time. The point could help Everton achieve safety.
