The final gameweek of season 2021/22 is upon us in Serie A, with plenty still left to decide. One of the issues still left unresolved is who will take the last European qualification spot for next season.
Roma are currently in sixth place and visit Torino on Friday night in their final clash of the campaign, knowing that only a win will guarantee them continental football next season.
Torino
Il Toro have enjoyed a solid season in Serie A and can finish anywhere between 9th place and 11th place in the table. Ivan Juric’s team has finished the campaign on a decent run, having suffered just one defeat in their last eight outings in Serie A. The home side has also won three of their last five matches in the Italian top-flight.
Torino has struggled for home wins of late on home soil, winning just once in their last seven home games in Serie A.
Roma
The Giallorossi currently occupy the last European qualifying spot in Serie A. However, Jose Mourinho’s team is just a point clear of seventh-place Fiorentina in the fight for continental football for next season.
Roma do have another avenue to European qualification, though, as if they win their Europa Conference League final against Feyenoord next week, they will qualify for the Europa League for next season.
The visitor's recent league form has dipped, as they have failed to win in their last five matches in Serie A, perhaps distracted by that stellar run in European competition.
Roma’s recent away results in the Italian top-flight have been poor, as they have recorded just one win in their last five away matches.
What does Forebet predict?
Forebet predicts that this final day clash will produce a low-scoring draw, which could well see Roma drop out of the league’s top six.
