Manchester United to keep top-four hope alive with win over Brighton
6078

Manchester United are five points behind fourth-place Arsenal in the race for Champions League qualification. The Red Devils are unbeaten in back-to-back games and on Saturday, head to Brighton to face the Seagulls in a must-win fixture.

Ralf Rangnick’s team has played two more games than Arsenal in the race for the top four. Manchester United need to win and hope both Arsenal and Tottenham drop points. It is a difficult task as Manchester United have put themselves behind the eight ball.

Manchester United are coming off of an impressive 3-0 home win over Brentford on Monday. While the Red Devils looked strong, Brentford were very poor throughout the game.

Brighton are unbeaten in five of their last six Premier League matches. The Seagulls are coming off of an impressive 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home. Brighton’s last two league games finished without defeat.

Manchester United are on a seven-match winning streak in all competitions versus Brighton. Earlier this season, the Red Devils won 2-0 at Old Trafford versus Brighton courtesy of goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes in the second half. Lewis Dunk was sent off for Brighton.

Brighton manager Graham Potter will be without Jakub Molder for the game. Meanwhile, Jeremy Samiento and Enock Mwepu are both major doubts to make the squad.

Rangnick is unlikely to have Jadon Sancho as the forward is suffering from an illness. Defender Harry Maguire is a major doubt following a knee injury. Full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaska is a major doubt due to a knock.

Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba are ruled out of action. Ronaldo is in excellent form. The forward scored in Manchester United’s last three matches in the league.

Manchester United picked up seven points from the last 18 points on offer in the league. They were outscored 11-8 across the last six games.

Brighton took 11 points from the last 18 points available in the Premier League. The Seagulls scored eight goals and conceded six times. Brighton have scored the league’s fifth-fewest goals this season with 34.

Manchester United have tallied 54 goals this season in the Premier League. It is the fifth-most goals in the division. Manchester United have allowed 52 goals as the defence has been poor overall.

Despite the poor goal record for Manchester United, they should pick up a win at Brighton. The Red Devils are on a seven-match winning streak versus the Seagulls in all competitions. They should post an eighth straight win with a 2-1 scoreline. Ronaldo could score in a fourth straight game.
