Leipzig Expected to Reach the Europa League Final With a Win in Glasgow
5038

It’s arguably the biggest game of the season for Rangers and RB Leipzig as they meet at Ibrox for the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals with the German giants bringing with them a one-goal lead.

It was a very close first leg back at the Red Bull Arena, and in reality, the Gers were unfortunate not to leave with a draw which may have put them as the favourites to win the tie over the two legs.

On the other hand, the game was statistically dominated by Leipzig, who saw 71% of the ball and had four shots on target compared to Rangers' one.

Nevertheless, it was a resilient defensive display from the Scottish Premiership champions, and it took a stunning goal from out of nowhere for Leipzig to get the win on the night.

Angelino struck a fabulous volley from the edge of the box from the corner with five minutes to go, and after another exceptional game from Allan McGregor in goal, even on his current form, he had no chance.

What will give Rangers hope heading into this one is the recent run of form Domenico Tedesco's men have been on in Germany. His side lost 2-1 to Union Berlin just a few days prior to the first leg clash, and they continued their losing streak with a damning loss to Borussia Monchengladbach over the weekend.

Christopher Nkunku got yet another goal in the game, but Gladbach would run out 3-1 winners, despite playing with 10 men for the last 30 minutes. Nkunku now has 31 goals this season, and with 10 of them coming across the Champions League and the Europa League, he'll be in search of his fourth goal in this competition.

In contrast to Leipzig's struggles in Germany, Rangers are unbeaten in the SPFL in the last few weeks.

Since their defeat to rivals Celtic at the start of April, the club have gone on to beat St. Mirren 4-0, defeat Celtic in the Scottish Cup, and ease past Motherwell, before another Old Firm ended in a draw last weekend.

Rangers have also been handed a massive boost on the injury front too, as they may see the return of playmaker, Aaron Ramsey, and marksman, Kemar Roofe. Roofe has netted 15 times for Rangers this season, and only Alfredo Morelos has more.

It’s expected to be another close one, but Leipzig’s firepower seems too much to handle. Forebet predicts they’ll win here, and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
