Midtjylland lead the Danish Cup semifinal series against Vejle by a slender one goal. The Wolves won 1-0 in the first leg thanks to a 68th-minute goal from Anders Dreyer. Now, Midtjylland are looking to put away Vejle in the second leg on Wednesday night.

Vejle are winless in 11 straight matches versus Midtjylland. The away side are desperate to defeat one of the top sides in Danish football this week to punch their ticket to cup final.

Despite Midtjylland becoming a Danish football powerhouse over the course of the last decade, they have won the Danish Cup a mere one time.

The Wolves won the cup in 2018-19 courtesy of a penalty shootout win versus Brondby. On four other occasions, Midtjylland have finished as runners-up to the Danish Cup.

Vejle have won the Danish Cup six times in their history. However, the club has not lifted the Danish Cup since 1981. The six-time winners have struggled over the last 40 years in the domestic cup competition. Vejle have a difficult task of overturning Midtjylland’s 1-0 lead.

Midtjylland are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions ahead of this week’s cup second leg. The Wolves drew at the weekend against FC Copenhagen in the Superliga.

Bo Henriksen’s team leads the Danish Superliga Championship Playoffs. The Wolves are leading the Championship Playoffs, but are behind FC Copenhagen in the overall table by three points.

Midtjylland are in excellent form ahead of the semifinal second leg. They have a home record of 11W-5D-6L with 36 goals for and 22 against in all competitions.

Vejle have a poor away record this season. They have won just three of their 18 away games in all competitions. Vejle’s away record is 3W-3D-12 losses with 15 goals scored and 38 allowed. Ivan Prelec’s team is on a two-match losing streak heading into the semifinal second leg with Midtjylland.

Midtjylland are led in league goals by Brazilian Evander. The striker has 10 goals in the Superliga and is in good form heading into the game. Junior Brumado has added eight league goals.

Vejle’s leading goalscorer is Arbnor Mucolli with a mere four goals. This is not a high-scoring team and Vejle’s lack of goals should see them stumble once more in the semifinal.

Midtjylland are playing well in the league and cup. Henriksen’s team should post another Danish Cup semifinal win as they punch their ticket to the final. Midtjylland will face either Odense or Sonderjysk in the Danish Cup Final.
