Man Utd tipped to return to winning ways with victory over Brentford

Having drawn 1-1 with Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday, Manchester United host Brentford on Monday night.

With only three games remaining this season, the Red Devils are sixth in the Premier League table – five points outside the top four. All the teams above them have two games in hand.

On the flip side, Brentford find themselves twelfth. The Bees are 11 points clear of the relegation zone and 15 points behind Man Utd.

Ralf Rangnick’s side saw just 35% possession on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chelsea dominated proceedings and chalked up a whopping 21 shots.

Man Utd went behind midway through the second half. However, Cristiano Ronaldo got his team out of trouble once again by equalising two minutes later.

The Red Devils have failed to win any of their last three Premier League outings, having suffered defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal before Thursday’s draw with Chelsea.

When you look at the bigger picture, United have only managed to win two of their previous nine league outings – recording three draws and four losses in that time.

As for Brentford, they held Tottenham to a goalless draw last weekend. Not only did they chalk up 15 shots, but they prevented Spurs from recorded a single attempt on target.

Thanks to last weekend’s draw, the Bees have lost just one of their previous seven Premier League outings – securing five wins and one draw along the way.

When the Bees suffered nine defeats in 11 Premier League games between December and February, they plummeted towards the relegation zone.

However, Thomas Frank’s men have turned things around in recent weeks. As it stands, they are on course to register an impressive mid-table finish.

That said, Brentford have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their past 17 away games in all competitions – meaning they are likely to concede on Monday.

Head-to-head: Man Utd have only faced each other once since 1975. Earlier this season, the Red Devils beat the Bees 3-1 in London.

When you look at the overall head-to-head record, Man Utd (7 wins) have the upper hand over Brentford (5 wins). They have also played out two draws over the years.

Team news: Man Utd’s extensive injury list includes key players such as Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire.

Brentford also have a number of injury absentees at the moment, including Saman Ghoddas, Mathias Jorgensen and Frank Onyeka.

Regardless of their recent woes, Man Utd should have enough firepower to over Brentford at Old Trafford.

Although both teams are likely to score on Monday, Forebet predicts that Manchester United will come out on top.
