Nice to gain important win at Bordeaux

The French top flight action continues on Monday and features this upcoming clash between relegation threatened Bordeaux and 5th placed Nice when the two teams meet at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique with both teams needing all three points to further their respective aspirations.
Looking at Bordeaux first and the hosts sit second from bottom in the Ligue 1 standings and they not only find themselves in the relegation zone but also six points adrift of safety ahead of this vital upcoming clash against Nice.
It’s been a torrid season for Bordeaux and especially rocky in recent weeks in the French top flight.
The hosts have managed to register just one league win out of their last 12 matches overall, which came in the form of a 3-1 home win against the basement dwellers, Metz.
However, seven defeats within this period have overshadowed Bordeaux’s minimal success and having suffered recent heavy defeats on the road as well, losing 6-1 at Lyon and a 5-3 loss away at Nantes, confidence is likely to be fragile at best within the Bordeaux camp right now.
Nice currently occupy 5th place in Ligue 1 but the visitors know that if they grab all three points in this Monday’s clash and other results also go their way, Nice could end up in 3rd place and sitting in a Champions League qualifier spot.
Recent results have produced a mixed bag of returns though for Nice who have recorded just four wins out of their last 12 matches, coming in the shape of victories over Angers, PSG, Lorient and Troyes, all of which were attained on home soil at their Allianz Riviera.
It’s also been a tale of two different teams on the road where Nice have been concerned as the visitors had previously posted a solid six-match unbeaten run on their travels.
Nice collected five wins but results since seem to have eluded the visitors.
Four defeats within their last six matches away from home have seen Nice experience something of a wobble on the road following losses at Lyon, Marseille, Lens and Monaco, but it should be noted that all these opposing clubs currently sit in the top eight of the Ligue 1 standings.
This upcoming trip to Bordeaux though represents a golden opportunity for Nice to return to winning ways.
