Chelsea set for narrow victory over Man Utd at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s top-four hopes are hanging by a thread as they prepare to host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

With four games remaining this season, the Red Devils find themselves sixth in the Premier League table – six points outside the Champions League places.

Meanwhile, Chelsea occupy third place. Although the Blues are miles behind Manchester City and Liverpool, they hold an 11-point lead over Man Utd.

Ralf Rangnick’s side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal last weekend, despite racking up 14 shots at the Emirates Stadium.

That defeat means that Man Utd have lost three of their past four Premier League outings, having fallen to Liverpool and Everton earlier this month.

When you look at the bigger picture, the Red Devils have managed to win just two of their previous ten games in all competitions – recording three draws and five losses along the way.

Given that Man Utd have the worst defensive record in the top eight, they will struggle to keep a clean sheet when Chelsea come to town.

As for the Chelsea, they head into Thursday’s clash on the back of a 1-0 victory over West Ham United – thanks to a 90th-minute winner from Christian Pulisic.

Thomas Tuchel’s men racked up 67% possession and 26 shots against the Hammers. Despite Jorginho’s late penalty miss, they managed to snatch all three points.

The Blues have won seven of their last nine Premier League games, picking up three home victories and four away wins in the process.

Not only have Chelsea kept a clean sheet in three of their past five league outings, but they have also achieved a shutout in six of their previous nine.

Head-to-head:  The last three meetings between Man Utd and Chelsea have ended in a low-scoring draw. Following two goalless draws last season, the teams played out a 1-1 draw earlier this term.

Believe it or not, Chelsea have only managed to win one of their previous ten matches against the Red Devils across all competitions.

Team news: Man Utd trio Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw look set to miss the rest of the season through injury.

On the flip side, Chelsea will be without Ben Chilwell, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mateo Kovacic on Thursday. Antonio Rudigr and Reece James are also doubts.

Given that United have lost three of their past four Premier League games, Chelsea are expected to claim all three points at Old Trafford.

Forebet predicts that both teams will find the back of the net on Thursday. However, Chelsea have the quality to outscore Man Utd.
