Bournemouth seeking vital win against Swansea in race for automatic promotion
6525

Bournemouth are just two points ahead of third-place Huddersfield in the Championship table. The Cherries cannot slip up in the race for automatic promotion with the Terriers breathing down their neck.

On Tuesday night, Bournemouth will visit one of the Championship’s most in-form teams, Swansea. The Swans are unbeaten in eight straight Championship matches heading into the midweek match.

Russell Martin’s team should fight for the promotion playoffs next season. For now, Martin will aim to finish the season on a strong note.

Swansea picked up 12 points from the last 18 points on offer in the Championship. They scored 13 goals and conceded seven times to the last six opponents.

Bournemouth took nine points from the last 18 points available in the division. The Cherries scored only seven goals across their last six games while conceding five times. The Cherries are unbeaten in their last four matches in the league.

The reverse fixture between these teams ended in a 4-0 win for Bournemouth. Dominic Solanke scored in the 26th minute to give Bournemouth a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Solanke scored once more in the second half before Jaidon Anthony scored twice.

Since 2015, these teams have played nine times in all competitions. Bournemouth have a brilliant head-to-head record versus Swansea across the last nine encounters. The Cherries have a record of 6W-3D-0L against Swansea in the last nine matches.

Swansea manager Martin has no fresh injuries heading into the match. He will be able to select a very strong side. Forward Joel Piroe leads Swansea in goals with 20 this season. Swansea will be desperate to hang onto the forward for next season.

Bournemouth manager Scott Parker has several names on the injury list. Kieffer Moore remains ruled out with a broken foot.

Leif Davis has a hip injury which will keep him sidelined. Midfielder Morgan Rogers is ruled out with a leg issue. Defender Jordan Zemura has a hamstring strain which will prevent him from playing. Forward Juniors Stanislas is also ruled out.

Bournemouth have a brilliant head-to-head record against Swansea. The Cherries should pick up another win against the Swans. Although Bournemouth have sputtered in recent games, they should pick up an away 2-0 win at the Liberty Stadium.

Four of Bournemouth’s last five league games ended with under 2.5 goals scored. Three of Swansea’s last five matches finished with under 2.5 goals scored.

This should be a low scoring game between Swansea and Bournemouth as the Cherries win.
