Arsenal set to enhance top-four hopes with victory over Man Utd

The race for the top four in the Premier League continues on Saturday as fifth-place Arsenal and sixth-place Manchester United go head-to-head at the Emirates Stadium.

The two rivals are separated by three points in the Premier League table, with seventh-place West Ham United sitting two points behind Man Utd.

Given that fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur are level with Arsenal on 57 points, the importance of this clash cannot be overstated.

The Gunners head into Saturday’s showdown on the back of a hugely impressive 4-2 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Despite seeing just 32% possession on Wednesday, Arsenal’s young stars shined. Eddie Nketiah bagged a brace, while Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka completed the scoring.

The Gunners’ top four-hopes took a huge blow when they suffered three straight defeats in April. However, Champions League qualification is now in their hands.

It is worth noting that Arsenal have won seven of their previous 11 Premier League games, scoring over 1.5 goals on five occasions in that time.

On the flip side, Manchester United suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss at the hands of Liverpool last time out.

The Red Devils managed just 28% possession and a solitary shot on target at Anfield on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s men ran riot.

Man Utd have now just one of their past five games across all competitions, recording one draw and three losses along the way.

When you look at the bigger picture, they have managed to win just two of their previous nine outings – registering three draws and four defeats in the process.

Head-to-head: Man Utd have won only one of their last seven Premier League meetings with Arsenal. Funnily enough, that win came in the reverse fixture back in December.

It is also worth pointing out that Arsenal have kept four clean sheets in their past six encounters against the Red Devils.

Team news: Arsenal look set to be without the injured duo of Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey for the rest of the season. Takehiro Tomiyasu is also a doubt for Saturday.

As for Man Utd, there are question marks of the availability of Fred, Raphael Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani.

While Arsenal claimed a big win over Chelsea in midweek, Man Utd suffered another embarrassing loss to Liverpool.

With the momentum on their side, Forebet predicts that Arsenal will score over 1.5 goals on their way to beating Man Utd.
