Huddersfield to Keep on Winning as Barnsley Become Their Next Victims
3933

Huddersfield Town will take on Barnsley at the John Smith’s Stadium this Friday night as the Terriers look to get yet another win on the board as they chase down second-placed Bournemouth in the final few weeks of the campaign.

Carlos Corberán's men have been on an absolute tear of the division since November and they have subsequently launched themselves from around mid-table into the top six and stayed there since February.

Defeats such as a 2-0 loss to Millwall and 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth came in March, but those two losses remain their only ones since losing to Queens Park Rangers at the end of November.

Huddersfield soon returned to winning ways after those back-to-back defeats in March, as they beat Hull City 1-0, Luton Town 2-0, before drawing with QPR last weekend. On the other hand, the Yorkshire side met with Middlesbrough in a gargantuan game in their play-off pursuit, and a comfortable 2-0 win away from home saw them stay in third and create a gap of eight points on seventh-placed Millwall just outside of the play-off spots.

Naby Sarr and Jordan Rhodes netted in the win away to Boro, with the latter also assisting the first goal in a Man of the Match display. Goals have been split healthily across the pitch for the Terriers, as they have now witnessed 14 different goalscorers get at least two goals this season.

The objective for the club now remains on keeping on the heels of Bournemouth in the automatic promotion spot, and with the Cherries four points ahead with two games in hand, this remains an unlikely feat.

Against a Barnsley side all but relegated, however, Huddersfield should ease to all three points and subsequently all but guarantee a position in the play-offs bar a complete disaster.

It’s felt like Barnsley have been relegated for weeks now, and with their 31 points from 42 games they've been set for life in League One for the majority of 2022. The club have only six wins in the league and have scored just 31 times - both of which are the worst in the league this season.

Worse yet for the Tykes, they even lost to fellow relegation-sitting side, Peterborough United, just a few days ago on their own patch. It all but sums up their torrid 2021/22 campaign, with their last win coming in mid-March against Bristol City.

Forebet predicts another win for Huddersfield here and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
