Manchester City to ease by Brighton with Premier League win
3281

Manchester City could kick off on Wednesday night at home against Brighton in second place. The Cityzens will play 24 hours after title rival Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield.

Pep Guardiola’s team is coming off of a 3-2 loss in the FA Cup semifinals to Liverpool. There is some speculation that the defeat to Liverpool could see Manchester City crumble under the pressure of winning trophies down the stretch.

Brighton are coming off of a confidence-building win over Tottenham Hotspur. The Seagulls are unbeaten in their last three games and their last two matches both ended in victories over Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Graham Potter’s team is midtable and safe from relegation at this point in the season. It is the first time since the Seagulls were promoted in 2017 that they have been safe from the drop this early in the campaign.

Since coming up from the Championship in 2017, Brighton have won just once against Manchester City in all competitions. The Seagulls have a record of 1W-0D-9L in the teams’ last 10 encounters in all competitions.

In the reverse fixture, Manchester City romped to a 4-1 in at the Amex Stadium. Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez scored either side of a Phil Foden brace. Brighton’s Alexis McAllister scored a late penalty for Brighton.

Manchester City are unbeaten in five straight league games. The Cityzens took 11 points from the last 18 points on offer in the Premier League. Guardiola’s men outscored the last six opponents 11-6.

Brighton are unbeaten in three straight league games, but they only took seven points from the last 18 available to them. Goals were scarce across the last six games with a mere four scored and seven allowed.

Gabriel Jesus picked up a knock versus Liverpool in the FA Cup semifinal. He is a slight doubt to play after returning to the starting XI in recent games. Kyle Walker is also nursing a slight injury. He twisted his ankle and could miss out.

Kevin De Bruyne didn’t play against Liverpool at the weekend in the FA Cup semifinals. He could return to the starting XI. He leads the team in goals with 11 in the league.

Potter has three players on the injury list heading into Wednesday clash. Steven Alzate is a major doubt due to an illness.

Jakub Moder and Shane Duffy are both ruled out of the fixture at the moment. Neal Maupay leads Brighton in goals with eight this season in the league.

Despite losing at the weekend, Manchester City will romp to another win over Brighton.

The last two Premier League matches between these teams ended with over 2.5 goals and Wednesday’s match will end with Manchester City claiming a 3-0 win.
