Stade de Reims will travel to the Mosson Stadium this weekend as they clash with Montpellier in Ligue 1 with both sides looking to establish themselves as contenders to finish inside the top 10 in the final few weeks of the campaign.

Neither side can boast of much positivity in the league these days and they remain winless in their last few games with a bit of a gap to make up on those above them to get into the top half.

The home side here have managed to score 44 times and let in the same amount too, as they have had just about as topsy-turvy of a season as it gets in Ligue 1 this campaign.

They’ve also managed to win 11 and lose 14 in the league too, with only five draws coming their way in what has been a lacklustre and fairly hopeless season for the Montpellier faithful.

Worse yet, they are now on a winless run of two games, after losing to both Marseille and Brest, following their win over Bordeaux in France.

Jonas Omlin was sent off for the club last time out as well, and he will now miss this game which leaves Montpellier without their recognised number one goalkeeper and they will bring in either Matis Carvalho or Dimitry Bertaud, but it’s the latter who is expected here.

Montpellier also have a gap of five points to make up on Lyon who sit 10th in the table, and the same applies to Nantes who sit just above them.

The top half of Ligue 1 is incredibly tight all over the place, so a win here for the home side could propel them back into this area as we approach the season finale.

Stade Reims, however, have little hope of getting into the top 10 as they have now lost 11 times and won only eight games with the gap on Montpellier being at five points.

At the same time, despite sitting 12 points above the drop zone, their torrid run of form is about as bad as it has been all season long for them.

They did manage to beat Angers back in March and Monaco away from home back in late February, but these results don't come often for the side, as they have lost their last two to Troyes and Rennes, while also drawing 0-0 with Lyon a few weeks back.

Forebet predicts another draw in this one, with the game set to see under 2.5 goals.
