Magpies and Foxes clash sees goals at a premium

The Easter period features an action packed weekend in the Premier League and features this intriguing clash between Newcastle United and Leicester City at St James’ Park with both teams heading into this encounter on the back of victories last weekend.

Newcastle United ended a worrying three-match losing streak with a 1-0 home win over Wolves and The Magpies now have a chance to record another home win here this Sunday when they entertain an inconsistent Leicester City.

Prior to last week’s win though, Newcastle had suffered defeats to Chelsea, Everton and Tottenham - all of which were away from home.

Newcastle will now be hoping they can embark upon another solid and impressive unbeaten run in the top flight, similar to the one that Eddie Howe and his side enjoyed before the flurry of losses.

The are hosts unbeaten in nine games which has virtually sealed their top flight survival.

Newcastle are unbeaten in their last six home games, winning four of these matches while four of these six games also resulted in under 2.5 goals.

Leicester City also picked up all three points in last weekend’s fixture against Crystal Palace as The Foxes ran out 2-1 winners at the King Power Stadium, making it just one defeat in their last six matches overall and picking up four wins in the process.

That victory has helped Leicester City back into the top half of the Premier League table but the east midlands outfit still trail West Ham and the top six pack by a significant margin of 11 points, so they’ll really need all three points here if they’re to keep their slim hopes of a top six finish alive.

However, although Leicester have picked up recent wins against Burnley, Leeds United, Brentford and Crystal Palace, three of these four wins were achieved on home soil at the King Power Stadium, while results away from home have been pretty disappointing.

The visitors have managed to collect just one win out of their last nine games on the road in the Premier League whilst five losses within this period suggest a straight win for Brendan Rodgers’ side looks an unlikely prospect, but goals could be in short supply as five of Leicester’s last nine away games have also been under 2.5 goals.

Forebet predicts that this fixture will be a tightly fought battle that may produce few goals.
