Saturday afternoon brings us further action from the German top flight as Bundesliga league leaders Bayern Munich play host to lowly 14th placed visitors, Augsburg, when the two teams face off at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
Bayern Munich hold a commanding nine-point lead at the summit of the Bundesliga over 2nd placed Borussia Dortmund and the hosts will be looking to pick up another three points here this Saturday in what looks like being a straightforward exercise for the home side.
Bayern are unbeaten in their last six matches overall, picking up four wins in the process with victories collected against Greuther Furth, Eintracht Frankfurt, Union Berlin and Freiburg along with points picked up in draws with Bayer Leverkusen and Hoffenheim as well.
In addition, goals may also feature in this upcoming clash as the hosts have scored 4 goals in each of their last two games in the Bundesliga.
A 4-0 rout of Union Berlin at home was followed by Saturday’s 4-1 romp away from home at Freiburg.
Augsburg picked up a second win in three matches in the German top flight on the weekend when they recorded a 3-0 home win over Wolfsburg which followed on from a previous 1-0 win on the road at Arminia Bielefeld.
In between wins however, Augsburg slipped to a 3-2 loss away from home at Stuttgart and the visitors being unable to string together any sort of winning run so far this season has been a common theme for the away side as they prepare for this monumental task ahead of them this Saturday afternoon.
Having managed to win just three out of their last 12 games in the domestic top flight, it would be fair to say that Augsburg have struggled to pick up victories in this season’s campaign, indeed, the visitors have won just seven games in total this term.
Five of these seven wins have been achieved at home while results away from home continue to hamper Augsburg and moreover contribute to their current position of 14th place and just three points above the relegation zone, so the prospects aren’t looking good for the away side.
Bayern Munich’s previous meeting at home against Augsburg ended in a comprehensive 5-2 victory for the hosts and another straightforward victory looks set to be on the cards again this Saturday for Bayern.
