Sevilla expected to reclaim second place with victory over Granada

Sevilla will be looking to snap a four-game winless run when they welcome Granada to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in Friday’s sole La Liga clash.

Julen Lopetegui’s men will be confident of returning to winning ways, given that sixteenth-place Granada find themselves just two points outside the relegation zone.

At the opposite end of the table, Sevilla sit in fourth place – level with second-place Barcelona and third-place Atletico Madrid on 57 points.

Sevilla suffered their first defeat in 16 La Liga games at the weekend, going down 1-0 to Barcelona at Camp Nou.

It is worth noting that Sevilla have drawn seven of their previous ten league games, picking up just two wins along the way.

When you look at the bigger picture, Sevilla have lost only two of their previous 23 La Liga clashes – putting them in a strong position to finish in the top four.

Given that Sevilla are also enjoying a 16-game unbeaten streak on home soil in La Liga, they will fancy their chances of dispatching struggling Granada.

Granada have won just six of their 30 La Liga games this season, registering 11 draws and 13 losses in the process.

As a result, only five teams have picked up more La Liga losses than Granada this term, while only two sides have drawn more games.

It is also worth pointing out that Granada have the fourth-worst defensive record in the division, having conceded 48 goals in 30 games.

The majority of Granada’s struggles have come in the road. Indeed, they have managed to win just four of their past 28 away games in La Liga.

Head-to-head: Sevilla have won four of their previous six La Liga meetings with Granada, keeping three clean sheets along the way.

Since each of the past seven clashes between Sevilla and Granada have dished up under 3.5 goals, we shouldn’t see more than three goals on Friday.

Team news: Sevilla look set to be without the injured trio of Fernando, Papu Gomez and Thomas Delaney on Friday.

As for Granada, they currently have Neyder Lozano, Santiago Arias and Carlos Neva sidelined due to injury.

Although Sevilla have taken a turn for the worse of late, they are more than capable of overcoming lowly Granada on home soil.

Forebet predicts that Sevilla will claim all three points on Friday, with under 3.5 goals also looking likely.
