Getafe to Distance Themselves From Relegation With a Win Over Mallorca
Getafe CF vs Real Mallorca - 02/04/2022
2615
Two sides down at the bottom end of La Liga will clash this weekend with Getafe welcoming Mallorca to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez as both clubs battle it out to stay above the relegation zone with only a few weeks left on the clock.
It's been another underwhelming season for Getafe who have had nothing to shout about all campaign long. On the other hand, a few months back, the club were rooted into the bottom three and had a huge gap of points to make up, so at the very least, they've earned the right to have their fate in their own hands for next season.
At the same time, however, they are still 15th in the table and within one gameweek, Getafe could be pulled right into the mix with them only boasting a three-point advantage of Mallorca in the drop zone.
For now, even with a loss to Mallorca, the home side will likely remain out of the bottom three on goal difference.
Currently, Getafe have one of the better goal differences from those down inside the bottom half, with their -6 record coming off the back of 33 goals conceded and 27 scored - their defensive record is better than the likes of Atletico Madrid this year.
A win for Quique Sánchez Flores' side and they will be much more confident in surviving come to the end of the campaign, and following on from six games without a victory, this game has rapidly become their biggest of the season especially as all their remaining eight games come up against a side higher up in them in the table.
As of now, however, Mallorca have moved back into the drop zone after their defeat to Espanyol just as Cadiz pulled off a fantastic win over Villarreal to force them to swap places.
It has been a season of moving in and out of the bottom three for the club, but with 26 points and only a one-point gap on Cadiz just above them, a victory here would do wonders for their survival hopes.
Alarmingly for them though, the club have managed to lose all six of their last six encounters. Worse yet, they only scored within two of those six defeats and conceded 13 times in the league.
It’s set to be an almighty close game and arguably the biggest of the season for either team. Forebet predicts Getafe to win, however, with the game seeing over 2.5 goals.
