Arsenal aiming for rare win over Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in six of their last seven meetings with Arsenal in the Premier League. However, five of those six games ended in draws.

The Eagles picked up a 2-2 draw at the Emirates earlier this season and confidence will be high that they can get points again versus the Gunners.

Arsenal are fourth in the league with five of their last six games finishing as a win. The Gunners are one point ahead of fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur.

Mikel Arteta’s team has a game or two games in hand over the teams below them in the table. As it stands, Arsenal are in the driver’s seat for Champions League qualification for next term.

Crystal Palace are 12th in the Premier League heading into the weekend. The Eagles are unbeaten in four straight games in the division. Twelve points separate Crystal Palace from the bottom three.

Patrick Vieira’s team has been very exciting this season and could fight for Europe next season with some reinforcements. The first-year manager will be set on finishing out the current campaign strongly against at top London rival.

Crystal Palace took nine points from the last 18 points available in the league. The Eagles scored three goals while their stingy defence allowed a mere three goals. Crystal Palace have an FA Cup semifinal date with Chelsea coming up on April 17, showing their positive play under Vieira.

Arsenal took 15 points from the last 18 points available in the division. They scored 10 goals and conceded six times against their last six opponents.

Arteta has three names on the Arsenal injury list heading into the fixture. Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will undergo a late fitness test to prove his availability.

Aaron Ramsdale could miss the game due to a chest injury. Bernd Leno would get the nod in goal if Ramsdale cannot go. Midfielder Bukayo Saka has been battling COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw from the England squad. He could miss the game.

Vieira will have key attacking players Wilfried Zaha and Michael Olise monitored ahead of Monday’s game. Both players are battling back from injuries and are not yet declared fit. Meanwhile, Nathan Ferguson and James McArthur are both ruled out of the match.

Arsenal’s last trip to Selhurst Park finished 3-1. The Gunners may have drawn with Crystal Palace at home earlier this season, but this time around, they should post a win at Selhurst Park. Both teams should score with over 2.5 goals at full-time.
