Girona to Make it 5 in a Row With an Easy Win Over Malaga
Girona FC vs Málaga CF - 01/04/2022
2989
Two sides at the opposite ends of the Segunda Division meet this Friday night as Girona play hosts to Malaga at the Estadi Montilivi with both clubs desperate for all three points with only eight games left on the clock.
It has been an absolutely woeful campaign from Malaga, who in reality, are experiencing arguably their worst season in history and easily their worst year since they were relegated back into the Segunda Division from La Liga a few years back.
Currently, Malaga are sitting 18th in Spain’s second tier, with a dismal nine wins from 33 games and scoring just 27 goals along the way.
Only the four clubs below them have managed to score less across the whole season, while their 14 defeats is the fourth worst in the table as well.
The club have been leaking goals at an alarming rate all season and following on from their 2-0 loss to Huesca they’ve now let in 47 goals in 33 fixtures - only Alcorcon, Mirandes and Amorebieta.
To put this in perspective, Girona have netted 50 goals of their own, which is only three more than Malaga have actually conceded.
Malaga are also without a win in their past three games since they beat Amorebieta 2-1 back in early March.
The club have since gone on to draw with Ponferradina, and lose to both Fuenlabrada and Huesca.
It now leaves them with a healthy eight-point gap on the bottom three, but at the same time, with eight games still to play, they are still far from safe in the Segunda Division this season.
Girona, however, are in the midst of their best form all campaign long and are performing about as good as any club have right now.
They are still 11 points off the first-placed club, Eibar, but with no loss in five which has included four wins in a row, Michel’s men are the clear favourites to pick up all three points at home here.
Last time out, 10-man Girona beat Almeria 1-0, but Borja Garcia's red card means he now misses this one. Prior to this win, the club defeated Ibiza, Oviedo, and Las Palmas by scoring a combined 10 goals and conceding three.
Such form has put the club into fourth and with a great shout at getting back into La Liga.
Forebet predicts Girona will win again here and make it five victories in their past five games with a game that should see under 2.5 goals.
