Zaragoza and Amorebieta to share the spoils
Real Zaragoza vs SD Amorebieta - 25/03/2022
3416
Friday evening’s offering in the Spanish second tier concerns this upcoming clash between Real Zaragoza and Amorebieta when the two teams meet at the Estadio de la Romareda with both teams requiring all three points for differing reasons.
Looking at Real Zaragoza first and the hosts currently sit in 14th place on the La Liga 2 ladder and seemingly out of the reckoning for a possible play-off spot as they trail 6th placed Ponferradina by a margin of nine points.
But a win on Friday night against lowly Amorebieta could make things interesting.
Prior to a disappointing and heavy 3-0 defeat away from home at FC Cartagena last time out in the Spanish second tier, Friday’s hosts, Real Zaragoza, had strung together an impressive four-match winning streak which consisted of victories over Las Palmas, Sporting Gijon, Almeria and Fuenlabrada respectively.
The bigger picture though shows that these four wins have been Zaragoza’s only highlights in their last 13 matches overall.
Four of which have also been draws, while seven of Zaragoza’s last 14 home games have also ended in stalemate.
Amorebieta sit second from bottom in La Liga 2 and they also find themselves nine points adrift of safety and fifth from bottom outfit, Sporting Gijon, ahead of this Friday night’s encounter at the Estadio de la Romareda.
Amorebieta’s predicament certainly hasn’t been helped by the fact that they’re without a win from their last seven matches overall in the domestic second tier, a sequence of results that consist of four defeats and three draws.
Points picked up in draws with Real Oviedo, Lugo and Alcorcon have been overshadowed by losses incurred against Leganes, Real Valladolid, Malaga and Eibar while the bigger picture when looking at Amorebieta’s results on the road paint a gloomy outlook for the visitors.
The away side have managed just the one victory on their travels throughout this campaign to date which came in the shape of a 2-1 win at Malaga but having drawn seven and slipping to eight defeats, this has been one of the catalysts behind Amorebieta’s current situation.
The only previous meeting between these two sides ended in a 1-1 draw back in November of last year so another stalemate could be on the cards on Friday night as well.
