Gremio to Ease Past Internacional to Make it to the Gaucho Final

Grêmio will play hosts to Internacional at the Arena do Grêmio this Wednesday as the two clubs clash in the Gaucho second leg semi-finals with the home side taking with them a 3-0 lead from their trip to the Beira-Rio Stadium just four days ago.
It was a stunning performance by the away side that day and it all but killed off this Gaucho cup tie without the need of a second leg. Internacional will go for it, but with a 3-0 scoreline to deal with on away soil, they are far from the favourites to make it to the final now.
Elias Manoel got the ball rolling that day for Gremio, just as Bitello added a second later into the first half to give them a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Diego Souza would score a penalty towards the end of the first half, and that third goal of the day seems to be the difference heading into this game here after a lacklustre performance from Internacional.
Worse yet for Alexander Medina's men, Paulo Victor managed to get a red card in the second half to end hope of getting back into the game that day, and the midfielder is now set to miss this game here with a suspension.
The 3-0 win for Gremio that day did also move the club onto a two-game winning run after they also beat Ypiranga-RS just seven days prior, as Jaminton Campaz and Bitello scored goals either side of half time to give them a 2-0 win.
If Internacional are to have hope for this game here, they must also remember that they did manage to beat Gremio already in March.
It was a goal just at the end of the first half for David Correa da Fonseca.
It was a significantly better performance than what was shown two weeks later, and moreover, it was defensively one of their better displays with that game being their only clean sheet during March, except for their 1-0 win over Aimore at the start of the month.
Furthermore, the away side here have only got that one win over Gremio to boast in March, and it ironically doesn’t put them in a great position to get a win here and overturn a 3-0 deficit.
