RB Leipzig will welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the Red Bull Arena this weekend as two sides gunning for European football next season battle it out with the away side having a boatload of work to do in order to return to the top six.
Frankfurt are sitting in ninth after a fantastic run of form in the Bundesliga and in the Europa League, following on from what looked like a period where they may end up slipping towards the bottom end of the top half in no time.
The club struggled for wins up until last month in 2022, but following on from a 1-1 draw in the Europa League which now sees them into the last eight, Frankfurt are now unbeaten in four games.
That Europa League win came with a 120th-minute own goal from Real Betis to give the German side a 3-2 win on aggregate.
Much attention will now fall on their quarter-finals battle in that competition, but back in Germany, a 2-1 win over Vfl Bochum and a 4-1 victory over Hertha Berlin in March has now put them right back in contention to get a spot in Europe for next season if form continues.
Frankfurt have conceded 38 goals so far in the Bundesliga and by scoring 39 of their own, their season is summarised well by their goals record so far, as the club have also won 10 and lost nine.
In reality, you never know if this team are going to kick on in the midst of great form, or fall back into their out-of-form ways.
On a two-game winning run in the league, though, they won't fear a Leipzig side who themselves are on a run of excellent form.
Domenico Tedesco has really turned things around for the club since his appointment months back, as his side have now swapped mid-table for a fourth spot in the Bundesliga, and following on from their 4-0 demolition over Hannover 96 two weeks back, Leipzig are also in the last four of the DFB-Pokal.
Better yet, a 6-1 victory over Greuther Furth would come in the league last time out as we witnessed an almighty six different goalscorers for the club spread across that stunning performance.
It’s a bit more like what we’re used to with Leipzig, and they’re clear favourites for another three points here.
Tedesco’s men should get the result, and Forebet predicts another win for them and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
