Title-chasing Liverpool set to end Arsenal’s five-game winning streak
8039

Two sides in excellent form go head-to-head at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night as Arsenal welcome Liverpool to North London.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have won each of their last eight Premier League games. They are seven points clear of third-place Chelsea and remain within touching distance on Manchester City.

Meanwhile, the Gunners find themselves fourth – eight points shy of Chelsea and 15 points behind Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta’s team head into Wednesday’s clash on a five-game winning streak in the Premier League after dispatching Leicester City 2-0 on Sunday.

Not only have the Gunners scored over 1.5 goals in each of their last four outings, but they have also kept a clean sheet in three of their previous six.

When you look at the bigger picture, Arsenal have lost just one of their past 11 league encounters – picking up nine wins and one draw in the process.

Having suffered only two defeats in their previous 17 home games across all competitions, Arteta’s men will fancy their chances of frustrating Liverpool on Wednesday.

As for the Reds, they come into this matchup on the back of eight consecutive victories in the Premier League.

Better still, Liverpool have won 14 of their last 17 league clashes – registering two draws and one loss along the way.

It is also worth noting that Klopp’s side boast the best offensive record in the division, having netted a whopping 73 goals in 28 games this season.

That means they are averaging 2.6 goals in the Premier League this term, with Mohamed Salah leading the Golden Boot race on 20 goals.

Head-to-head: Arsenal have failed to win any of their previous seven encounters with Liverpool across all competitions.

To make matters worse for the Gunners, they have only managed to win one of their last 18 matches against the Reds.

Team news: Arsenal’s sole injury absentee is Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is continuing to recover from a calf issue.

On the flip side, there are question marks over the fitness of Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate.

Although Arsenal have significantly upped their game of late, Liverpool should be too strong for Arteta’s men.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that both teams will score on Wednesday. However, the visitors are expected to outscore the hosts.
