PSG Expected to Move on Swiftly From Their UCL Heartache With a Win Against Bordeaux

Paris Saint-Germain will aim to get back to winning ways following yet another heartache in the Champions League as the French giants were knocked out once more in midweek to Real Madrid.

PSG were leading the tie as they kicked things off at the Santiago Bernabeu, and when Kylian Mbappe gave them a 2-0 aggregate lead, it looked as if the Ligue 1 league leaders were set to move into the last eight once more.

However, a stunning Karim Benzema hat-trick ended all hopes for PSG who could now have seen their last ever Champions League game with their superstart Mbappe representing them and not the side that just knocked them out.

Worse yet for them, with a side boasting the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar and after arguably the most important transfer window in their history, all attention has fallen on the shoulders of manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is now in desperate need to prove himself with the sack looming.

In Paris it’s simple: you either win the Champions League or you’re out. What may save Pochettino for now is the fact the club are top of Ligue 1 after losing their title to Lille last season, so there’s a chance he gets to see out the campaign.

Nevertheless, with the title all but wrapped up with a 13-point gap on Nice, the rest of the season now feels more than dull for PSG followers. Worse yet, they in fact lost to Nice last time out as well, meaning it's now a two-game losing streak for the club across both Europe and France.

Add into the equation the 3-1 loss to Nantes and it means Pochettino’s men have lost three of their past five games in all competitions, beating only St-Etienne 3-1 and Madrid in that first leg encounter.

Bordeaux are in dire straits this season and with the change in form from the likes of St-Etienne around them, the club have plummeted to the bottom of the Ligue 1 table and now sit with a stunning 65 goals conceded in the league.

They’re now also on a five-game winless run, but with 38 goals scored this league season, there is still hope they can turn things around over time. Such a period isn’t expected to start here though, and PSG will be hunting for the win to steady the ship during their rockiest period of the season so far.

Forebet expects the league leaders to win here and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
