West Ham tipped to end Aston Villa’s winning streak

West Ham United welcome Aston Villa to the London Stadium in one of six Premier League games taking place on Sunday.

A run of three straight wins has seen Aston Villa climb to ninth in the Premier League table – nine points behind West Ham.

As for the Hammers, they find themselves in sixth place – three points behind fourth-place Arsenal. However, the Gunners have three games in hand.

West Ham were enjoying a four-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League before visiting Anfield last weekend. Unfortunately, the Reds claimed a 1-0 victory.

Thanks to wins over Watford and Wolves, as well as draws against Leicester and Newcastle, the Hammers remain in the hunt for a European place.

It is worth pointing out that David Moyes’ men have lost just one of their previous six home encounters across all competition.

On top of that, each of West Ham’s past three home league games have produced under 2.5 goals – meaning Sunday’s clash is likely to be a low-scoring affair.

In the Europa League on Thursday, the Hammers were beaten 1-0 by Sevilla. The second leg takes place next week in London.

On the flip side, Aston Villa crushed Leeds United 3-0 on Thursday – thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho, Matty Cash and Calum Chambers.

The Villains have now won each of their previous three Premier League matches with conceding a single goal in the process.

It is also worth pointing out that Steven Gerrard’s men have lost just two of their past eight league outings, picking up four wins and two draws along the way.

If there were still any doubts about Gerrard’s credentials, his team's recent winning streak should silence the critics.

Head-to-head: West Ham thrashed Aston Villa 4-1 in the reverse fixture back in October. That means the Hammers have won each of their last three Premier League meetings with Villa.

The Villains have failed to win any of their last seven league games against West Ham, suffering four defeats along the way.

Team news: West Ham look set to be without the injured trio of Vladimir Coufal, Jarrod Bowen and Angelo Ogbonna on Sunday.

As for Villa, Marvelous Nakamba is currently sidelined with a knee injury. On a brighter note, Lucas Digne and Ezri Konsa are back after bouts of COVID-19.

Although Villa are enjoying an impressive revival at the moment, West Ham’s superiority should shine through on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that West Ham will edge out Aston Villa at the London Stadium, with the hosts keeping a clean sheet in the process.
