Osasuna unlikely to halt Barcelona’s revival

Barcelona will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak in La Liga to 12 games when they welcome Osasuna to Camp Nou on Sunday.

Osasuna find themselves eleventh in the table – nine points outside the top six and 11 points clear of the relegation zone.

Barcelona, on the other hand, sit third – two points inside the top four and seven points behind second-place Sevilla. They also have a game in hand over the teams around them.

Xavi’s men extended their unbeaten run in La Liga to 11 matches without a 2-1 victory over Elche last weekend.

That means Barcelona have won five of their last six league outings, as well as seven of their previous ten.

When you look at the bigger picture, Barca have lost just one of their past 16 La Liga encounters – picking up nine wins and six draws along the way.

It’s fair to say that Barcelona were in a real mess before Xavi’s arrivals. However, the club legend has transformed the team’s performances.

On the flip side, Osasuna have won just nine of their 27 league games this season – recording eight draws and ten losses in the process.

With 26 goals to their name, only two sides – Cadiz and Alavez – have scored fewer goals than Osasuna this term.

Thanks to a 1-0 victory over Villarreal last weekend, Osasuna have won two of their previous four La Liga matches.

When you assess the broader picture, however, Osasuna have managed to win just four of their past 18 league outings.

Head-to-head: Osasuna have only managed to win one of their previous 11 La Liga meetings with Barcelona, suffering seven defeats along the way.

Given that 13 of the past 15 meetings between the teams have produced over 2.5 goals, Sunday’s clash should be a high-scoring affair.

Team news: Barcelona will be without the injured quartet of Sergi Roberto, Samuel Umtiti, Ansu Fati and Alex Balde on Sunday.

As for Osasuna, they are currently without right-back Jesus Areso as he continues to recover from a fibula fracture.

If everything goes to plan this weekend, Barcelona should extend their unbeaten streak in La Liga to 12 games.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Barcelona will score over 1.5 goals on their way to dispatching Osasuna.
