On Sunday afternoon, Dortmund will look to maintain their slim hopes of catching Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich when BVB host Arminia Bielefeld at Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund’s recent form has been typical of their recent Bundesliga seasons, as they have been inconsistent. A 1-1 draw at Augsburg last time out means that Marco Rose’s team has now won just one of their last four games in all competitions.
However, on the flip-side, Dortmund have recorded five wins in their last seven matches in the Bundesliga.
Despite their relative consistency in the league, Dortmund are still trailing league leaders Bayern Munich by nine points, although they do have a game in hand on the Bavarians.
The game against Augsburg ended a high-scoring run for BVB, as they had scored at least two goals in their previous eight matches in German top-flight before the low-scoring draw.
Dortmund have a reasonably strong recent home record in the Bundesliga, having won three of their last four league matches at Signal Iduna Park, while also scoring at least two goals in their last 16 home matches in the German top-flight.
This could be a difficult trip for Arminia Bielefeld, but the visitors are badly in need of points to stay out of the league’s bottom three.
Frank Kramer’s team is just three points above the automatic relegation spots and just two points clear of the relegation play-off berth.
Their recent league form does not bode well for them picking up maximum points in this clash, as they have won just three of their last four matches in the Bundesliga while failing to score in each defeat.
The visitors have also suffered back-to-back away defeats at Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen.
Forebet predicts that Dortmund will record a comfortable victory to add to the visitor’s worries about being sucked into the relegation zone.
