Salernitana’s situation is becoming ever more perilous as each match passes in the Italian top flight as the hosts now find themselves 10 points adrift of fourth from bottom side, Cagliari, and safety following a heavy 5-0 defeat away from home at Inter Milan last weekend.
It’s been a particularly tough campaign for Salernitana who are experiencing their first ever season in the domestic top flight and the hosts have found wins hard to come by; Salernitana have managed to win just one of their last 16 matches overall.
That rare win came in the form of a 2-1 win on the road at Hellas Verona but this poor sequence of results also include 10 defeats as well as failing to keep a single clean sheet during this woeful run of results.
It comes as little surprise then that Salernitana sit rock-bottom of Serie A ans their situation only looks set to get even worse ahead of this upcoming clash against Sassuolo as the hosts have failed to win any of their last nine games on home soil at their Stadio Arechi, losing six of these games.
Sassuolo captured a third win on the trot last weekend in the Italian top flight when they secured another useful three points in the shape of a resounding 4-1 win away from home at Venezia which also helped lift the visitors up into a mid-table position of 10th place on the Serie A ladder.
Previous wins against Inter Milan 2-0 away and a 2-1 home win against Fiorentina will also contribute to Sassuolo’s positive mindset ahead of this upcoming encounter at the basement dwellers of Serie A.
Sassuolo have lost just three out of their last 16 matches overall in the domestic top flight.
In addition, Sassuolo have made themselves tough to beat on their travels in recent times as well with the visitors losing just once in their previous eight games on their travels and they’re expected to produce another stubborn performance away at Salernitana on Saturday afternoon as well.
The bigger picture shows that Sassuolo have lost just four of their last 18 away games and have scored 2 goals or more on no fewer than 13 occasions.
Sassuolo have won each of the last four meetings on the trot against Salernitana and a fifth straight win looks to beckon here this Saturday.
