Xavi’s Winning Run is Set to Continue as Barcelona Edge Past Galatasaray
3497

Barcelona will continue their Europa League campaign this Thursday night as they welcome Galatasaray to the Nou Camp with Xavi looking to keep up the club’s winning form since taking over back in November.

Although this Barcelona side and their form is far from what we used to see when Xavi was a player, things are looking brighter under his guidance now. Indeed, they do remain a great distance off the likes of Real Madrid in Spain and they are rightfully so in the Europa League and not the Champions League.

However, with 12 wins and only four losses under Xavi, they are now third in La Liga after previously sitting with at the time he took over and looking a complete shambles too.

The Barcelona legend now boasts a win rate of 54.5% with his boyhood club and with a game in hand over Sevilla in second and only a seven-point gap, there is still a great chance they finish inside the top two in La Liga.

Better yet, the club are now on an unbeaten run of eight games since losing a round of 16 Copa del Rey battle with Athletic Bilbao. Such wins since have seen them smash Atletico Madrid 4-2, Valencia 4-2, Bilbao 4-0, and after edging past Elche 2-1, they are now in the midst of their best form all season.

This period also saw them beat Napoli in the play-off round of the Europa League, and following on from a 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp, Xavi’s men demolished the Italian giants in Naples 4-2 thanks to goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, and Frenkie de Jong.

As for Galatasaray, they are having their worst season in modern history, and in fact, the ‘Big Three’ clubs in Turkey are all in absolute tatters, but Galatasaray are without question the most underperforming side in all of Europe this campaign.

Stunningly, the club sit 12th in the Super Lig and are only eight points adrift of relegation. In reality, they should be safe from the drop, but given how they are 22 points off league leaders Trabzonspor, it shows just how torrid they have been in 2021/22.

The Turkish giants also returned to losing ways over the weekend as they lost to Konyaspor, and it gives them little hope of being able to beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

The form of Galatasaray is simply too poor, and there really should be only one winner here as Forebet predicts a win for Barcelona and the game to see under 2.5 goals.
