Huddersfield to boost automatic promotion hopes at West Brom
5185

On Friday night, West Brom host Huddersfield Town at the Hawthorns, in a game that could be massive in the visitor’s chances of earning automatic promotion to the Premier League.

West Brom started the season in fine fashion in the Championship and looked set to be one of the leading candidates for promotion to the English top-flight. However, things have gone badly wrong for the Baggies in recent months.

Their poor form in the league lead to the appointment of the experienced Steve Bruce as head coach in February.

The 60-year-old picked up his first win as the Baggies boss last time out, as West Brom beat one of his former teams Hull City. Friday night’s opponents are another team Bruce has managed in his long managerial career.

The win over the Tigers ended a seven-game winless run for West Brom in the Championship, six games of which finished had ended in defeat. The recent poor run of results has seen the Baggies slip to 13th place in the table, nine points adrift of the play-off spots.

Huddersfield’s recent league form has fired them into contention for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The Terriers are currently third-place in the Championship table, only outside the top-two courtesy of inferior goal difference to Bournemouth. However, Town has played three more games than the Cherries, so need Scott Parker’s outfit to slip up if they are to clinch that second automatic promotion spot.

Huddersfield’s recent league form has been good, as the visitors are currently 16 games unbeaten in the English second tier, having recorded four straight victories in the Championship.

However, Carlo Corberan’s team suffered a 2-1 defeat at fellow Championship outfit Nottingham Forest last time out in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Forebet predicts that Huddersfield will record a victory in a high-scoring encounter to boost their chances of earning automatic promotion to the Premier League.
