Middlesbrough to claim potentially massive win in Yorkshire
5695

On Tuesday night, playoff-chasing Sheffield United and Middlesbrough meet at Bramall Lane in a potentially massive game in the race for the top six in the Championship.

Sheffield United have enjoyed a major turnaround in fortunes in recent months after a poor start to life back in the Championship. The Blades head into this game on the back of just one defeat in their last 11 matches in the English second tier.

Although they have picked up just one point from their last two league matches, Paul Heckingbottom’s team is still just a point adrift of Tuesday night’s opponents Middlesbrough, who currently occupy the last playoff spot in the Championship.

The recent resurgence was built on solid defensive displays and despite conceding in their last two league matches, they have still kept clean sheets in five of their last seven Championship matches.

The Yorkshire outfit is also eight league games unbeaten at Bramall Lane in the second tier, having picked up five victories in the process. The Blades have also conceded just once in that eight-game unbeaten run on home soil.

Middlesbrough have thrived since the appointment of former Sheffield United head coach Chris Wilder. Boro may still feel that they are in with a chance of automatic promotion this season, although they currently find themselves seven points behind second-place Huddersfield.

The north east outfit have two games in hand on the Terriers, though, so that could gap could look a lot smaller once those extra games have been played.

Despite their relatively lofty position in the table, Boro’s recent league form has been highly inconsistent, as they have won two and lost two of their last four league games. Last time out in the Championship, the visitors recorded a 2-1 home win over Luton Town.

Boro have failed to win any of their last four away games in the Championship. However, Forebet predicts that the visitors will record a narrow victory in a low-scoring game.
