Juventus to continue sudden title fight in Serie A with win over Spezia
3638

Juventus are on an 18-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. The Old Lady haven’t lost a match in all competitions since November 27. On Sunday, Juventus will face off with 16th-place Spezia at home with the chance to move closer to the top three.

In November, the Serie A title looked highly unlikely for Juventus. Yet, the Old Lady are within seven points of first-place Napoli and AC Milan. An unlikely title fight is on as four teams have the chance to win the Scudetto this season.

Spezia are aiming to end Juventus’s 18-match unbeaten streak. The away side failed to take points off of Juventus in the teams’ last three meetings in Serie A. Earlier this season, Juventus went to Spezia and left with a 3-2 win. Spezia gave Juventus everything they could handle.

Massimiliano Allegri’s team picked up 12 points from the last 18 points available in Serie A. They were +5 in goals across the last six games. Juventus are also coming off of a 1-0 Coppa Italia semifinal first leg win versus Fiorentina in midweek.

Spezia took seven points from the last 18 points in the league. They are on a three-match losing streak in Serie A going into the fixture on Sunday. Spezia were –1 in goals across their last six fixtures.

Juventus have posted a home record of 7W-3D-3L with a +8-goal difference. Spezia’s away record ahead of Sunday’s trip to Turin is 4W-2D-8L with a goal difference of –17.

Allegri has a long list of injured and absent players for this weekend’s game. Leonardo Bonucci, Kaio Jorge, Weston McKennie, and Federico Chiesa are all ruled out of the game.

The Juventus coach could have any or all of Denis Zakaria, Paulo Dybala, Federico Bernadeshi, Alex Sandro, Daniele Rugani, Koni de Winter, or Giorgio Chiellini available for the match.

Although Juventus are suddenly in a title fight, Allegri may not want to risk too many of his returning players. Juventus are level on one goal apiece in their Champions League last 16 series with Villarreal. The two sides will play the second leg in Turin on March 16.

Spezia have played well this season, but the pressure of staying in Serie A could be getting to the side. Juventus should claim a fourth straight win over Spezia.

Like the reverse fixture, the game should see both teams score and over 2.5 goals as Juventus potentially move closer to the top of the table.
