Nothing Set to Separate Roma and Atalanta in Serie A

One of the most important games of the season this weekend takes place in Europe as fifth-placed Atalanta take on sixth-placed Roma in Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico in what is a must-not-lose fixture for either side.

Both clubs have had about as topsy-turvy of a campaign as you could imagine in this thrilling season in Serie A.

Atalanta have gone from being top of the table and contesting for the title, to now sitting in the Europa League after being knocked out of the group stages, and now fighting to get into the Champions League.

The title race is all but gone for the Bergamo side now, with even Juventus overtaking them into fourth. Worse yet for Atalanta, they now trail the Old Lady by three points in fourth, while Napoli and AC Milan are both 10 points clear of the club in first and second, respectively.

All of this does leave work to be done for Gian Piero Gasperini men but with another high-scoring season where they've scored 50 goals and let in 30, every game is thrilling with them and their season could go either way.

Atalanta did also ease past their Europa League two-legged tie with Olympiacos as the club won 2-1 on home soil, before travelling to Greece and smashing the Greek champions 3-0 to move into the next round.

Better yet, Atalanta hammered Sampdoria 4-0 last time out in the league to really return to excellent form.

Mario Pasalic and Aleksei Miranchuk scored that day, while Teun Koopmeiners netted a brace to bring the club onto 13 wins in the league this season, and with a further game in hand, Champions League qualification is still in their own hands.

As for Roma, it has been a tough first season back in Serie A for Jose Mourinho, who now sees his Roma side move back into a place within Europe, but still with a bit to prove to the fans.

In fact, Mourinho has only registered one win in the club's past five games as they beate Spezia last time out thanks to another Tammy Abraham goal.

The Rome side would also hit three draws within this period as they drew with Genoa, Sassuolo, and Hellas Verona, while also losing their Coppa Italia quarter-finals clash with Inter Milan.

Roma remain relatively solid in defence still though, and Forebet predicts a draw to be played out here with very little separating the sides, as under 2.5 goals is expected.
