Villarreal’s European Dream Still Alive With a Win Expected Over Osasuna
3146

Villarreal will look to continue their excellent form shown in 2022 this weekend as they travel to the El Sadar Stadium to face off with an Osasuna side coming off back-to-back wins.

It has been a fantastic calendar year so far for Unai Emery’s men who even managed to keep their fight in the Champions League alive with a late goal against Juventus putting the tie at 1-1 ahead of their clash in two weeks. Dani Parejo scored that day and he has continued his excellent season.

Last time out though, Villarreal demolished Espanyol 5-1 to make it 10 goals in their past three games in all competitions. The 5-1 result stunningly saw Yeremy Pino net four goals across the game, as Boulaye Dia also scored against Espanyol.

Not long before this either, Arnaut Danjuma, the man who is arguably Villlarreal's star player this campaign, scored a hat-trick against Granada in a 4-1 win, as Moi Gomez also netted in the dying seconds.

It does leave the club on a run of six games without a defeat ever since they lost to Elche back in mid-January, as they have since beaten Mallorca at home and even beaten Real Betis away from home as well, while also managing to capture a 0-0 draw with the league leaders, Real Madrid.

Emery’s side are still, however, trailing the European spots in La Liga which is only due to the fact his men had a diabolical start to 2021/22, as they were sitting in the bottom half of the table for much of the first quarter of the campaign.

Villarreall currently sit with 11 wins and only six defeats from 26 games, but with a fantastic +22 goal difference, only Madrid can boast a better record in La Liga than the club's 47 goals scored and 25 conceded.

As for Osasuna, they are on a run of two games with a loss as they were defeated by Atletico Madrid 3-0, before Real Sociedad edged past them 1-0 at the El Sadar Stadium.

It does still leave the club in mid-table in La Liga as Osasuna sit a comfortable 11 points above the drop zone but 10 points off seventh-placed Villarreal here.

Worse yet, with 31 goals conceded and just 25 scored from the home side here, it's tough to see how they beat an in-form Villarreal.

Forebet predicts a win for Emery here and the game to see over 2.5 goals.
