Anderlecht to punch ticket to Belgian Cup Final with win over Eupen

The 2021-22 Belgian Cup is set for the semifinal second leg as Anderlecht host Eupen. The first leg, played a month ago, witnessed a four-goal thriller as Anderlecht and Eupen drew 2-2.
After taking a sixth minute lead through Lior Refaelov, Eupen scored twice on either side of halftime. Eupen’s goals were scored by Smail Prevljak in the 16th minute from the penalty spot and Staf Peeters on 78 minutes.
With Eupen headed for a win in the first leg at home, Anderlecht were handed a lifeline courtesy of a penalty in second half stoppage-time. Refaelov stepped up and smashed the penalty home as the match ended in a stalemate.
The home team is unbeaten in 10 straight games between these Belgian rivals. Anderlecht posted a head-to-head record of 4W-4D-2L across their last 10 matches in all competitions versus Eupen.
Wednesday’s Belgian Cup second leg will be the fourth meeting of the 2021-22 campaign between these clubs. The teams drew 1-1 in the league at Eupen before Anderlecht claimed a 4-1 victory at home in early February.

Coach Michael Valkanis could be without the trio of Torben Musel, Benoit Poulain, and Carlos Apna Embalo. All three are doubts due to injuries.
