On Friday night, Arminia Bielefeld and Augsburg go head-to-head in a basement battle at the bottom of the Bundesliga table. Both teams are looking to avoid being dragged into the league’s bottom three.
Arminia Bielefeld are just two points clear of the relegation play-off spot in the German top-flight. A 3-0 defeat at in-form Bayer Leverkusen last time out means that Frank Kramer’s team has now won just one of their last four league matches.
Bielefeld’s struggles to score goals this season is part of the reason they are in their current position in the table.
In fact, they are the joint-lowest goalscorers in the German top-flight this season, level with rock-bottom Greuther Furth on 22 goals.
Arminia Bielefeld have been tough to beat on home soil of late, as they are unbeaten in six games in the German top-flight. However, they have also won just two of their last 13 home matches in the Bundesliga.
Augsburg are only out of the relegation play-off spot courtesy of a superior goal difference to 16th-place Hertha Berlin.
They are also just four points clear of the relegation zone in the German top-flight.
The visitors have won just one of their previous nine matches in the Bundesliga. However, last time out the visitors picked up a creditable 1-1 draw against Dortmund.
Augsburg’s defence has been leaky of late, as they have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven outings in the Bundesliga.
Markus Weinzierl’s team has also been travel sick of late, failing to win in their last four league games, while suffering three straight away defeats. They have also conceded at least three goals in all three of those recent away defeats in the Bundesliga.
Forebet predicts that this clash will end in a low-scoring draw, which will do little to ease the nerves of both teams heading into the final stretch of the Bundesliga campaign.
