Angers and Lens could share the spoils

The French Ligue 1 action continues on Sunday and features this upcoming clash between Angers and Lens at the Stade Raymond-Kopa with the hosts looking to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat on the trot in the domestic top flight.
Angers have remained in the bottom half of Ligue 1 in 13th place following recent defeats to St Etienne, Marseille, Strasbourg and Nice respectively which hasn’t helped their cause, neither has the fact that Angers have managed to win just one of their last eight games overall.
This poor sequence of results include earlier losses incurred against Clermont and Montpellier d although they recorded a 2-1 home win over Troyes, this has been Angers’ only highlight in an otherwise forgettable sequence of results.
Also, it’s not as if Angers can turn to form on home soil either really as the hosts have W5 D1 L6 of their 12 home games to date in this season’s Ligue 1 campaign.
But their silver lining may come in the shape of a possible point against Lens; three of the last four meetings between these two clubs have ended in stalemate.
Onto Lens and the visitors have dropped down to 10th place on the Ligue 1 standings despite being unbeaten in their last two matches which consisted of a 3-2 home win against Bordeaux and a point thanks to a 1-1 draw with Lyon.
Overall results have produced a mixed bag of returns for Lens though as the visitors have won just three of their previous 12 games in the French top flight which came in the shape of victories over Rennes, St Etienne and Bordeaux.
But they’ve also fallen to five defeats and been held to four draws within this period as well.
While Angers have been struggling for results, the same could be said for Lens on the road as the visitors have managed to collect just one win out of their last eight games on their travels along with suffering six defeats into the bargain as well.
To sum up, both Angers and Lens have struggled to put any sort of meaningful run of results together in recent times and this upcoming tussle may well see Angers and Lens cancel each other out in a dour and dismal stalemate, with both teams probably relieved to avoid defeat.
