Man Utd likely to heap more misery on lowly Watford

Having held Atletico Madrid to a draw in the Champions League in midweek, Manchester United welcome Watford to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils find themselves fourth in the Premier League table – four points behind third-place Chelsea and a whopping 28 points ahead of Watford.

At the opposite end of the standings, the Hornet sit second from bottom – one point ahead of last-place Norwich City and four points from safety.

Man Utd thrashed Leeds United 4-2 last weekend, extending their unbeaten streak in the Premier League to seven games.

Bruno Fernandes bagged a goal and an assist at Elland Road, meaning he has racked up four goals and three assists in his previous seven Premier League appearances.

Not only have the Red Devils won four of their last six Premier League games, but they have also won eight of their previous 13.

With just one defeat coming in their past 14 Premier League outings, it’s safe to say that Man Utd have made vast improvements since Ralf Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

On Wednesday, United drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Not only did they enjoy 63% possession, but they also limited Atletico to just a single shot on target.

As for Watford, they have won just five of their 25 Premier League games this season – recording three draws and 17 losses in the process.

That means they have lost more games than any other Premier League side this term, having suffered one defeat more than last-place Norwich.

The Hornets were thrashed 4-1 by Crystal Palace on Wednesday, managing just a single shot on target as the Eagles ran riot at Vicarage Road.

To make matters worse, Watford have won just one of their last 13 Premier League games – suffering ten losses in the process.

Head-to-head: Let’s not forget that Watford crushed Man Utd 4-1 in the reverse fixture at Vicarage Road back in November. A lot has changed since then, however.

Watford have managed to win just two of their last nine meetings with Man Utd in all competitions. The Red Devils won the other seven, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Team news: Man Utd will be without the injured Edinson Cavani on Saturday. Scott McTominay is also a doubt due to illness.

In terms of Watford, Nicolas Nkoulou, Juraj Kucka, Joao Pedro, Joshua King and Peter Etobo are all injury doubts going into this weekend.

There is no denying that Watford have become more solid under Roy Hodgson. Still, Man Utd should be too strong for the Hornets.

Forebet predicts that Man Utd will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching Watford.
