Bologna will welcome Spezia to the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium this weekend as the clubs sit right next to each other in the table and come into the clash with desperation to get all three points to avoid being sucked closer to the relegation zone.

As has been the case in the past few seasons, Bologna fans have had all but nothing to shout about this year and once again, it looks as if another bottom half finish is on the cards with the club only able to make it into the top 10 once since their promotion back in 2015.

This campaign, however, is heading to be one of the worst in recent times after finishing 12th for the past two seasons.

Bologna currently sit in 13th, but the worries come straight from their efforts in scoring goals  with the club only managing to score 29 times in their first 24 games of Serie A in 2021/22 - only five clubs in the division have scored fewer.

Bologna are also in a torrid bit of form which has seen them drop into 13th and just seven points above the drop zone.

Recently, the club were demolished 3-0 by Lazio, not long after a lacklustre goalless draw with Empoli and defeats to Hellas Verona and Napoli.

Most notably, however, Siniša Mihajlovic’s men did lose to Cagliari 2-1, who at the time, did in fact sit in the relegation spots and with now a five-game winless streak, it’s tough to see how Bologna get out of this situation any time soon.

The club did beat Sassuolo 3-0 to close out 2021, however, this remains the clubs only win within the past two months and Mihajlovic cannot afford any more dropped points at this stage in the season.

Spezia, on the other hand, seem relatively content with the way things are going in their third season back in Italy's top flight with the club now sitting in 14th and just two points below Bologna.

Spezia are still just five points above the drop zone and with the likes of Udinese and Venezia having games in hand over the Liguria outfit, the club are far from safe this campaign once more.

Thiago Motta's men are in significantly greater form, however, as they stunningly beat AC Milan just a month ago, before also beating Sampdoria and drawing with Salernitana.

However, when push comes to shove, Bologna should get the job done and Forebet predicts them to win here in a game that sees over 2.5 goals.
