Lampard’s Winning Run to Last Just a Game as Southampton Expected to Beat Everton
3406

Frank Lampard and his Everton men will look to make it two wins from their first four games together as they travel to St Mary’s to meet with a Southampton side in the midst of their best spell of form this season.

The Toffees will aim for back-to-back wins for the first time since the very start of the season.

It’s been one of Everton’s worst campaigns in Premier League history, and in truth, arguably their worst since the days they fought relegation back in the 1990s and since David Moyes went into the managerial role in 2002.

The club have indeed failed to win consecutive games in all competitions since they managed to beat Huddersfield Town in the EFL Cup, and then Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley in the Premier League.

Everton have since, however, managed to go on and win only four more games in the Premier League since that victory over Burnley back in September, and also lose 12 times, conceding a further 34 goals since the disastrous spell started.

Now, with Rafael Benitez long gone, Lampard has rapidly discovered that things are far from complete with this Everton side and with still just a five-point gap on the relegation zone and with Newcastle United only a point behind them, the club are once again just one gameweek away from being sucked right into the mixer of the unthinkable.

The Toffees are now with two wins and one loss in Lampard’s first three games in charge following their excellent 4-1 hammering over Brentford in the ex-Chelsea manager’s first game, before also comfortably beating Leeds United 3-0 at Goodison Park.

Alarmingly, however, Lampard’s men were thrashed 3-1 by fellow relegation fighters, Newcastle, and such a result is going to take more than just one win immediately after it in order to convince fans the former Derby County manager is the right man for the job.

Southampton are also currently feeling their best spell this season which has now moved them up to 10th in the table and with a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Saints have stunningly beaten Tottenham Hotspur, and picked up a point to both Manchester clubs, won two FA Cup ties and even hammered Brentford 4-1 all within 2022, losing only to Wolverhampton Wanderers in this year.

Southampton look too good right now for an Everton side still finding their feet and Forebet predicts a game of over 2.5 goals and a win for them here.
