Bordeaux look condemned to defeat against Monaco

The French top flight action continues on Sunday and features this upcoming clash between Ligue 1 strugglers, Bordeaux, and 6th placed Monaco at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique with both teams eager to record a valuable three points for differing reasons.

Having lost five out of their last six games overall, Sunday’s hosts, Bordeaux, still remain at the foot of the table following losses against Lille, Marseille, Rennes, Reims and Lens, while picking up just the solitary 4-3 home win over Strasbourg in the process.

League wins have been hard to come by for Bordeaux who have managed to pick up just two victories out of their last 12 matches overall in the domestic top flight which were against Troyes and the aforementioned Strasbourg but results at home have also been poor.

Bordeaux have won just one of their last six home games and just two out of their previous 12 games at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique.

So the prospects of a home win against Monaco do not appear to be too good, especially as Monaco have won each of the last three meetings on the trot.

Monaco still remain on the fringes of the top five pack in Ligue 1 but the visitors will feel confident about their chances of grabbing all three points away at lowly Bordeaux on Sunday afternoon.

Although Monaco have been handed losses on the road at PSG and Montpellier, these have been the visitors’ only slip-ups in the last 12 matches overall and they’ve also picked up five wins in the process as well.

Victories over Angers, Metz, Rennes, Clermont and Lyon have kept Monaco in the hunt for a potential top five finish and participation in Europe of some kind although they do still require further attention on results on the road.

Monaco have won just one of their last seven matches on their travels which came in the form of a 3-1 win at Angers.

But four losses have actually prevented Monaco from breaking into the top five of Ligue 1 already.

However, one thing in Monaco’s favour for this upcoming clash away at Bordeaux is the fact that the principality club have held the upper hand over Bordeaux in each of the last three meetings on the trot and the visitors look set to add to their points tally here as well.
