West Ham tipped to enhance top-four prospects and halt Newcastle’s upturn

Newcastle United will aim to continue their revival under Eddie Howe when they come up against West Ham United in the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday.

Three straight wins have enabled the Magpies to move out of the relegation zone and up into seventeenth place – four points clear of the bottom three.

At the opposite end of the table, the Hammers find themselves fifth – two points behind fourth-place Manchester United and 20 points ahead of Newcastle.

West Ham were held to a 2-2 draw by Leicester City last weekend, picking up their first draw in nine Premier League outings.

It is worth pointing out that David Moyes’ men registered four wins and four losses in their eight league games before meeting the Foxes.

The Hammers can take confidence from the fact that they have scored at least one goal in each of their previous 13 home matches in the Premier League.

On the topic of goals, Jarrod Bowen is undoubtedly West Ham’s biggest threat right now. He has bagged 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season.

As for Newcastle, they head into Saturday’s clash on a five-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League.

Howe’s side drew with Manchester United and Watford before beating Leeds United, Everton and Aston Villa in their past three league encounters.

The Magpies managed to win just one of their opening 20 Premier League matches this term but have since taken 11 points from a possible 15.

When you look at the bigger picture, however, Newcastle have only won four of their previous 25 clashes across all competitions.

Head-to-head: West Ham have won just three of their last ten Premier League encounters with Newcastle, suffering six losses in the process.

It is also worth noting that each of the last 12 Premier League meetings between West Ham and Newcastle have produced over 1.5 goals, with eight of those dishing up over 2.5 goals.

Team news: Defenders Angelo Ogbonna and Arthur Masuaku remain long-term injury absentees for the Hammers.

Newcastle have a host of injury absentees at the moment, with Javier Manquillo, Federico Fernandez, Jamaal Lascelles, Isaac Hayden, Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson all doubts.

Although Newcastle are enjoying an excellent upturn under Howe, the hosts should be too strong for the visitors on Saturday.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score at the London Stadium. However, West Ham are expected to come out on top.
