Sevilla favourites in 1st leg against Dinamo Zagreb

Spanish outfit, Sevilla, will be seeking to earn a 1st leg lead in this upcoming knockout play-off tie in the Europa League against Croatian visitors, Dinamo Zagreb, when these two sides meet at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Thursday evening.
Sevilla have produced a string of solid results of late in all competitions as the hosts have suffered just the one defeat in their last 12 matches, which came in the form of a 2-1 loss away from home at Real Betis in the Copa del Rey while also picking up some valuable wins in La Liga.
Domestic top flight victories over Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid, Cadiz, Getafe and Elche will undoubtedly give Sevilla plenty of confidence ahead of this upcoming 1st leg tie and their last foray into the Europa League a couple of season ago saw Sevilla win their last four ties on the trot.
Sevilla are expected to be missing a few key personnel though for Thursday night’s encounter as the likes of midfielders Lamela (4 goals) and Suso along with defenders Montiel and Navas have all been ruled out through injury, while midfielder Ocampos (5 goals) is rated as doubtful.
Dinamo Zagreb finished runners-up behind Premier League outfit, West Ham, in the group stages by a three-point margin in Group H, losing twice with defeat at home to West Ham and on the road at Rapid Vienna.
However, Dinamo Zagreb will take heart and plenty of confidence from picking up three wins in their six group matches with victories recorded against Genk 3-0 and most impressive of all, a 1-0 win at West Ham, both wins being away from home along with a 3-1 home win over Rapid Vienna.
Indeed, Dinamo Zagreb have also lost just three of their last nine away ties in the Europa League with only one of these being by a margin of 2 goals or more when they suffered a 2-0 loss away at Tottenham back in March of last year.
The Croatian visitors also registered five wins during this nine-game period on their travels at this level, so they’re by no means pushovers and should be taken very seriously over these two legs.
In addition, Dinamo Zagreb have a fully fit squad to choose from.
Sevilla should win this 1st leg but the margin of victory (if at all) may be a narrow one.
