Celta Vigo to Inflict More Pain on Cádiz as They Get Closer to Relegation

Cadiz will welcome Celta Vigo to the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla this weekend as the two clubs look to push on with their respective aims for the season.

As the home side aim for safety in the division just as the away outfit look to break into the top 10.

It has been a long and tiresome season for Cadiz this campaign as they have been in the relegation zone for all but the entirety of the season.

At the same time, it seems as if the likes of Granada, Mallorca, and Getafe have all ended up separating themselves from the drop zone in recent weeks.

In fact, Sergio González’s men lost in what is probably the worst result of the season for them, as they were beaten 2-1 to Mallorca in La Liga.

It has now created a five-point gap between the two as Cadiz now need to hope Mallorca don’t win their game in hand and drop a further five points in the division.

Whilst this is likely given how those down at the bottom are always in and out of decent form, only Levante have a worse defensive record than Cadiz as the club have now let in an almighty 38 goals in La Liga and scored just 20 of their own - only Mallorca and Deportivo Alaves have scored less while even bottom-placed Levante have scored more.

Cadiz did make it to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals this season, however, but they were even knocked out here to Valencia just two weeks ago after they won in their must-win relegation battle with Levante.

As of now, Cadiz are sitting with three wins, nine draws and 11 losses in La Liga this season and unless a few positive results come their way soon, relegation seems all but certain.

Celta Vigo, on the other hand, have had a topsy-turvy campaign as they have managed to distance themselves from the bottom 15 recently but still have work to do to get back into the top 10.

However, not many sides in La Liga are in better form than they are with just two losses coming in their past 14 league games.

The club have recently beat Ray Vallecano and Real Betis, while even drew with Sevilla and beat Osasuna too in 2022. They are indeed now just five points off a European spot.

Forebet predicts another win for Celta Vigo here and a game that will see over 2.5 goals.
