Liverpool to win against Burnley, keep PL title dream alive
3487

Liverpool are hanging around the Premier League title race with nine points separating them from first-place Manchester City. The Reds cannot make any mistakes down the stretch if they want to win the Premier League title.

Burnley will welcome Liverpool to Turf Moor on Sunday. The Clarets are bottom of the Premier League table but they have multiple games in hand. Burnley are four points off of Premier League safety after drawing each of their last three league matches.

A 1-1 come from behind draw was clinched at home against Manchester United in the week. Burnley are a much stronger team than they were earlier this season when Liverpool defeated the Clarets 2-0 at Anfield.

Liverpool are on a two-match winning streak against Burnley in the league. Despite Burnley winning at Anfield in surprising fashion last term, Liverpool are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 games versus the Turf Moor club.

The Reds are coming off of a 2-0 win over Leicester City with Diogo Jota scoring twice. Liverpool have won three straight matches in the Premier League. Two of those three wins saw Liverpool keep a clean sheet.

Mohamed Salah returned to the team versus Leicester City after the Africa Cup of Nations. He was lively as was new signing Luis Diaz. Sadio Mane could be on the bench following the AFCON tournament after missing the match with Leicester City.

Captain Jordan Henderson is nursing a back injury but is likely to be fit. Divock Origi could be back from injury and Joe Gomez is nearing a return from a bout of COVID-19. Manager Jurgen Klopp has the deepest squad in the entire league.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche will be without midfielders Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Matej Vydra due to injuries. Maxwel Cornet limped off versus Manchester United but could be available to play. He leads the team in goals.

Charlie Taylor is a doubt to play. Dyche could start the duo of Wout Weghorst and Jay Rodriguez in attack after the two were excellent together versus Manchester United in midweek. Weghorst set up Rodriguez’s tying goal. Signing Weghorst was a coup for Burnley.

Liverpool have the league’s second-best away record with 7W-3D-2L and 33 goals scored and 13 conceded. Burnley’s home record is 1W-6D-2L. They have scored nine home goals and conceded nine times.

Burnley will try to bully Liverpool, but the Reds should get the goals needed to win to nil once more. The game should end with under 2.5 goals and a correct score of Burnley 0-2 Liverpool. Salah and Diaz should be rampant in attack.
