Valenica aim to end four-match La Liga winless streak against Real Sociedad

Valencia are on a terrible run in La Liga. Los Che have failed to win their last four league matches ahead of this weekend’s visit from Real Sociedad.

The visitors from the Basque region are unbeaten in three straight games. Imanol Alguacil’s team is battling for a top-four finish in La Liga. Two points separate Real Sociedad from the top four as it stands.

Although Valencia are in poor form in La Liga, they are flying high in the Copa del Rey. Valencia claimed a midweek win in the Copa del Rey against Cadiz 2-1.

Real Sociedad were eliminated from the Copa del Rey in midweek by Real Betis 4-0. Alguacil will hope the Royal can rebound this week and potentially move into the top four with a win at Mestalla.

Valencia are unbeaten in three straight games in La Liga versus Real Sociedad. However, the last two fixtures between the teams finished as draws.

Earlier this season, Valencia went to the Basque country and claimed a nil-nil draw. Although the game didn’t see a goal, 11 yellow cards were handed out combined.

Valencia took seven points from the last 18 points on offer in La Liga. Los Che scored 11 times and conceded 14 times during those six fixtures. Real Sociedad picked up five points from the last 18 points available in La Liga.

They scored a mere three goals and conceded 10 times across the last six games.

Pepe Bordalas has three players on the injury list going into the fixture. Defender Omar Alderete is a doubt due to a hamstring injury. Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen is a doubt due to a muscle issue. Defender Gabriel Paulista could be back from a hamstring injury.

Alguacil has three players suffering from injuries recently. Forwards Ander Barrenetxea and Carlos Fernandez are both doubts due to leg injuries. Defender Nacho Monreal is a doubt with a knee issue.

Valencia are undefeated in five of the last six matches at Mestalla in La Liga. Real Sociedad are undefeated in four of their last six road games in La Liga.

The last two matches between Valencia and Real Sociedad finished as a draw. Sunday’s game at the Mestalla is set to be a score draw as these teams play out a third straight stalemate. Real Sociedad have not won at Mestalla since 2016-17 and their winless run will continue with a draw away.
