Lens the more likely at Lorient
FC Lorient vs RC Lens - 06/02/2022

Sunday lunchtime’s clash ion Ligue 1 features this upcoming tussle between second from bottom hosts, Lorient, and their top half placed visitors, Lens, at the Stade Yves Allainmat with both teams seeking the all-important three points here.
Looking at Lorient first and the hosts sit second from bottom in Ligue 1 and three points adrift of fourth from bottom outfit, Bordeaux, and safety but although the hosts hold supposed home advantage for this Sunday’s clash, Lorient have failed to win any of their last 15 games overall.
Indeed, Lorient last tasted success in Ligue 1 all the way back in September when they recorded a narrow 1-0 home win over Nice but in their subsequent 15 matches since that rare win, Lorient have stumbled to 10 defeats.
This dramatic decline in form is in stark contrast to the explosive start that the hosts made on home soil at the beginning of the campaign where they registered three wins on the trot, picking up wins against Monaco, Lille and Nice in quick succession but they’ve since failed to win any of their last seven games.
Lorient will be missing defenders, Loric and Morel through injury while midfielder Ouattara is away on international duty.
Lens were also handed defeat last time out in Ligue 1 when they lost 2-0 at home to high-flying Marseille but the visitors had previously posted back-to-back wins against Rennes and St Etienne in 1-0 and 2-1 victories respectively.
Recent results though have been fairly disappointing from Lens’s point of view as the visitors have managed to pick up just these two wins out of their last nine matches overall in the French top flight.
This slump in form has seen Lens suffer four defeats with losses incurred against Brest, Nantes, Nice and the aforementioned Marseille, while three of these four defeats were also handed out to Lens on their travels.
However, although they’d previously lost five of their preceding six games on the road, Lens did manage to register a welcome three points on their outings last time out with a 2-1 victory at bottom club, St Etienne, so this will give Lens hope of gaining a result here on Sunday.
Lens will be without forward, Gonago, and defender Machado, who are absent through international duty and injury respectively.
Lens look the more likely to make something happen in this encounter.
