On Monday night, the Primeira Liga’s bottom two teams Moreirense and Belenenses go head-to-head, as both teams attempt to collect vital points in the race to beat the drop.
Moreirense are 17th place in the Portuguese top-flight table but hope is not yet lost, as the home team are just two points adrift of 15th place and safety.
However, to move out of the relegation zone, they have to start winning games, which is something they have found hard to do in recent months.
In fact, Moreirense have won just two of their previous 13 league outings, while recently suffering back-to-back defeats against Santa Clara and Sporting Braga.
Sa Pinto’s team’s home form has been poor of late too, as they have won just two of their last nine league matches on home soil in the Portuguese top-flight.
Their recent home games in the Primeira Liga have been low-scoring with under 2.5 goals scored in four of the last five matches.
If Moreirense’s position in the table looks dangerous, then Belenenses is positively grim, as the visitors are currently bottom of the table and four points behind the home team. That means they are six points from safety and five from the relegation play-off spot.
Belenenses have won just one of their previous ten league games in the Primeira Liga, suffering eight defeats in the run. A 4-1 home defeat against Sporting last time out means that they have suffered defeat in three of their last four league outings.
Wins on their travels have also been in short supply in recent months for Franclim Carvalho’s team, as they have failed to win in their last 11 league matches on the road.
Forebet predicts that this bottom of the table clash will produce a low-scoring draw, which is a result that will only further both teams’ relegation worries.
