This season has been a woeful one so far for Wolfsburg, as the Wolves currently sit 15th place in the Bundesliga table. However, a home game against rock-bottom Greuther Furth on Sunday afternoon gives Florian Kohfeldt’s team the chance to get back to winning ways.
As things stand, the Wolves are just two points clear of the relegation play-off spot and three clear of the automatic relegation berths. The home team have been on a horrendous run of late, as they are winless in nine league matches, having suffered seven defeats in the run.
One of the biggest factors in poor recent results has been a lack of goals. In fact, Wolfsburg have failed to score in six of their previous seven Bundesliga outings.
They have looked to put that issue right by bringing in promising Danish forward Jonas Wind from FC Copenhagen.
The forward arrived as a replacement for Dutch international Wout Weghorst who left for Premier League Burnley late in the January transfer window.
Greuther Furth are 18th place in the Bundesliga standings and look set for a quick return to the German second tier.
Sebastian Leitl’s team has taken just ten points from their 20 games in the Bundesliga this season.
However, the Cloverleaves are unbeaten in their last four matches in the German top-flight after a 2-1 victory over Mainz last time out. On the flip-side, the win also ended a four-game winless run for the visitors, as their three previous games before the victory over Mainz had ended in draws.
As you would expect, Greuther Furth’s away record in the Bundesliga this season is a poor one, as the visitors have failed to win any of their league games on the road, while suffering nine defeats.
